Could Your Business Be Green by Moving Your Financial Management System to the Cloud?

When we think of being green as an organization, we often think about how to reduce the amount of paper used on a daily basis or putting a reusable water cup in front of each employee to cut back on the number of plastic water bottles consumed. We might even encourage employees to rideshare, take the bus or telecommute.

But have you thought about how your green initiative could benefit by moving your business software systems to the Cloud? I recently read an article by Pike Research that discusses how the use of cloud computing technology could reduce worldwide data center usage 38% by 2020.

The article suggests that because cloud computing technology enables organizations to operate without installing a host of hardware systems, it allows the organizations to considerably reduce their carbon footprint. Cloud computing is also thought to reduce carbon emission levels and save organizations considerable amounts of money in energy savings.

Here are some of the ways in which cloud computing saves organizations energy, money and effort.

  • Less hardware, less physical management
  • Reducing energy usage in cooling and heating
  • Better power utilization

As you discuss how to become more green in your company and reduce your carbon footprint, consider looking at an accounting software solution that is in the Cloud.
